Our position in the industrial sector pushes us to think differently and to raise awareness among our customers about our environmental impact both near and far of each product and activity. To this end, Altyor has implemented an eco-responsible approach to control and reduce its environmental footprint.

This vision applies to all our customers’ electronic and mechanical products. It requires a team effort: from our R&D department, through the choice of well-thought-out methods, to our purchasing department, via the sourcing of suitable partners, to our logistics department, in terms of our carbon impact.

Design a robust product, with a maximum life span, thanks to our industrial experience in electronics and mechanics

At Altyor, we systematically analyze the durability of products to ensure optimal aging and resistance of the product or material through MTBF (mean time between failure) calculations and qualification tests. For example, we test products in endurance to ensure that they withstand weather conditions or usage.

Finally, Altyor has been around for almost 30 years. Our experience has allowed us to build a unrivalled portfolio of electronic (buttons, LEDs, etc.) and mechanical (screws, materials, etc.) products that we know to be reliable and sustainable over time. These also include typical designs, such as the clip-on system, which have been approved by our teams and have become Altyor standards. Within the knowledge management platform called Ask, we gather all the building blocks mastered by Altyor and then made available to our customers.

Finally, we design firmware that can be updated remotely to avoid product obsolescence. This allows our customers to upgrade their products without necessarily starting from scratch and discarding products that are still functional. Also, during the design stage, our mechanical engineering department selects technical solutions for optimal reparability such as easy access to the test tips through the battery door.

Use recycled materials and design dismantlable products to regenerate materials in production

The main aim is to reduce the use of materials from non-renewable (or fossil) resources by using recycled materials: plastic, cardboard, etc. In 2021, nearly 70% of the plastic used by Altyor was recycled plastic.

Altyor has thus created its own closed or open recycling loop that can be adapted to each customer and field of application.

However, in order for a product’s plastic material to be reusable, certain elements must be considered at the design stage.
First of all, the product must be easy to dismantle; this saves time for the teams who have to separate the mechanics from the electronics.
Then, you have to think about positionning any decorative items (labels, stickers, paint). These decorative elements, once the plastic is reused, can result in aesthetic defects such as black spots. It is also a question of reducing or even eliminating the use of glue and bi-material products.

Optimize products by designing electronics, mechanics and packaging with sobriety

One of the objectives of the optimized axis is this: the less energy the product consumes, the better your energy performance will be.
We therefore select energy-efficient components and ensure that the batteries are correctly sized. We also analyze and explore how to optimally manage standby, power supplies and product current leakage and according to the use case and the budgeted product cost. Whenever possible, Altyor encourages the use of batteryless energy such as solar power or mechanical power (Enocean), as we do for our own products through our subsidiary NodOn, which specializes in smart homes and smart buildings.

The second objective of the optimized axis is to think about each packaging (primary, secondary or tertiary packaging) with the same vision: to reduce packaging and its non-essential elements.

Put in place internal and external agreements with our qualified partners to respect ethical rules

First and foremost, internally, all employees are made aware of Altyor’s ethical principles. We are also certified by official organizations that attest to the fact that we do not use child labor or forced labor, especially in our dedicated factory in Shanghai.

Our suppliers sign a charter guaranteeing compliance with these principles, after an audit of their facilities has been conducted.
Moreover, thanks to Silicon Expert, which is a recognized tool in the world of electronics manufacturing, we can ensure that our choice of electronic components considers the environmental risks and complies with the European RoHs directives and the and Reach regulations.


Our eco-responsible approach has been certified by PLASTI-OUEST, an organization that promotes the plastic industry and the recycling of plastic materials (now part of Polyvia, Union of Polymer Processors).
