Children aged 1 to 6 years spend nearly 4 hours and 37 minutes a week watching television.
To combat the harmful effects of screens, start-up Pimely has developed Bookinou, the first screenless audio reader for children to help them reconnect with reading. Discover this innovation and Altyor, their industrial partner of choice.
The launch of a new type of toy
Bookinou is the story of two friends – Guillaume Chanteloube and Vincent Gunther. They love to tell amazing stories, and their own story is equally as amazing! In May 2017 an idea was born to create an audio reader for children, and a year later, they managed to raise a record-breaking almost €45,000 on the crowdfunding site Ulule to launch industrialization and production.
What is Bookinou?
It is a screenless universal audio reading system that allows children to listen to stories with the accompanying book. The mobile application allows users to record readings by relatives in their own voices for a special reading experience The first Bookinous were dispatched in late October and have since begun capturing children’s imaginations!
What’s more, Bookinou:
Is screen- and radiation-free
Inspires a love of reading
Is suitable for any book
Is portable – children can listen anywhere
Develops children’s curiosity and imagination
Choosing a French manufacturer?
Altyor is the industrial partner of this little gem. The development of this product presented multiple challenges in order to produce a user experience adapted to the target audience: easy to use mechanical casing, clear audio and compliance with toy standards. Radiation and update constraints were also taken into account throughout the design process to meet the needs of children and adults alike. All of this heralds a successful festive season!
